Tiger Woods needs help from golfing community after arrest, says Jack Nicklaus

01 June, 2017, 00:35 | Author: Greg Santos

More disturbing images of Tiger Woods emerged Tuesday in the black-and-white details of police reports, depicting him sound asleep behind the wheel of a auto parked awkwardly on the side of a six-lane Florida road with two flat tires, the engine still running and a blinker flashing.

An alcohol breathalyzer test showed Woods had a blood alcohol level of 0.00, but his arrest report indicates he was taking four prescription medications at various points in the past few years, most of which are typically prescribed for pain.

But details of the arrest report which stated, among other things, that Woods was asleep at the wheel of a parked vehicle with the engine running and was disoriented when woken up by a police officer, can not be sitting well with sponsors. He was "co-operative" but "confused" and was "unable to walk alone". He also failed a variety of other field sobriety tests and thought the officer was asking him to "recite the entire national anthem backwards" when he was in actuality being asked to recite the alphabet.

Police records show the 41-year-old golfer was pulled over at about 03:00 local time near his home in Jupiter and later taken into custody.

Woods is scheduled to appear in court on July 5th to answer the DUI charge, unless a deal is struck beforehand.

"I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions", Woods said in a statement Monday evening.

Details of the arrest near his Jupiter Island home on Monday surfaced as Woods blamed the incident on an "unexpected reaction" to prescription medicine. He also added, "I didn't realize the mix of medications affected me so badly".

"I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans".

Will he ever play competitive golf again?

I hope he gets out of it and I hope he plays golf again. "He needs a lot of support from a lot of people, and I'll be one of them". "And I'll be one of them". "I haven't felt this good in years".

"After several times of explaining the instructions he completed the task correctly", the officer said in the report. Shortly after his victory, Woods announced he would undergo reconstructive ACL surgery on his left knee and would miss the rest of the PGA Tour season. "Whatever the cause of what happened to him, we just want him to get better".

Nike, which has sponsored Woods since 1996, also stood by the golf legend as his slew of sexploits came to light in 2009, while other sponsors including AT&T and Gatorade dropped him. Day said he had not yet talked with Woods as of Tuesday afternoon. We already knew he wasn't coming back anytime soon. Woods said in a blog post published last week that "it was instant nerve relief".

"But you can't overcome not being on the course for months, not winning championships and being pretty much a non entity in the golf world". Woods tried to tie his shoes by placing his foot on the grill of the cruiser and almost lost his balance, and eventually he just took them off.
