UK: Manchester attack investigation still at 'full tilt'

  • It's the second search to take place in Moss Side this weekend

Meanwhile, CCTC images have been released by the Greater Manchester Police, which shows suicide bomber Abedi at the Manchester Arena where the bombing occurred after the end of the Ariana Grande concert.

Counter-terror police have made a fresh arrest in connection with the Manchester suicide bombing as officers raid another address in the city.

They said the investigation was not slowing, with some 1,000 officers involved, and the priority was to determine if more people were involved in planning the attack. The explosion killed 22 people and wounded at least 116 children and adults.

Abedi died in the blast.

There could "potentially" be more members of the Manchester attack terror network at large, home secretary Amber Rudd confirmed this morning, while also revealing temporary exclusion orders have been used for the first time.

Along with the 11 suspects in United Kingdom custody, police in Libya have detained Abedi's father and brother.

His father Ramadan and younger brother Hashem have been detained in Libya, with officials there saying the brother was aware of the planned attack.

Only the straps of the rucksack - a bag containing tricyclic acetone peroxide, bolts and nails - are visible in the pictures.

1st game of Tigers-White Sox doubleheader rained out
Chad Bell - who pitched pretty well - allowed a three-run home run to Melky Cabrera in the bottom of the eighth inning. Detroit and Chicago will make up the rainout on Saturday as part of a doubleheader starting at 1:10 p.m.

Her comments came after police issued CCTV stills of Salman Abedi, bespectacled and casually clothed, in a plea for information about his movements between 18 May and the attack four days later.

Grande said she would return to Manchester to do a benefit show to raise money for the victims and their families.

Security was tight as 40,000 runners pounded Manchester's streets in the annual half marathon (21.1 km/13.1 miles) a day after Prime Minister Theresa May lowered the terror threat level, which was hiked following Monday's carnage. "Our priorities are to understand the run up to this bad event and to understand if more people were involved in planning this attack". She praised the city of Manchester for its strength and said she wanted her gigs to be a safe place for her fans. "Every time I've been outside my flat there's someone there or a group of them sitting outside in a vehicle".

The government is facing criticism after acknowledging that Abedi was on security services' radar, but wasn't a major focus of scrutiny.

Counter-terror authorities are handling 500 investigations into 3,000 individuals now, while it was disclosed on Friday that around 20,000 people are considered former "subjects of interest".

"I would not rush to conclusions ... that they have somehow missed something", Rudd said. In a statement released through Greater Manchester Police, her family described those responsible for her death as "evil, evil men prepared to ruin lives and destroy families".

"The investigation is making good progress and we know one of the last places Abedi went was a city center flat and from there he left to make his way to the Manchester Arena".
